You can not have a Air Jordan model without a Black and Red colorway. So with that being said, Jordan Brand released the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Original Black / Varsity Red. Although by 2001, Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls days were over, but everyone can appreciate the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Original Black / Red.

Jordan Brand picked a different colorway that has not been used until now, the Air Jordan Original 16 (XVI) Whisper / Cherrywood – Light Graphite + dubbed Cherry Wood is that model. As a general release, the OG Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Cherrywood + did decent on release date.

Starting with the later Air Jordan models, with a exception of a few others, the Low cut phase continues with the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Original Low White / Black – Varsity Red which is dubbed White Red.
Some nice additions to the Low cut model that was not featured on the mids. For example, the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Original Low White / Black – Varsity Red contains perforated leather side panels, and a magnetic collar to form into more of a low cut.

What is known by many who purchased this pair as “Beaters”, the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Original Low Black / Black – Metallic Silver was simple, yet a shoe you could wear to death. Released September 29th 2001, the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) OG Low Black Metallic Silver was a great shoe for the upcoming rainy season.
The Air Jordan XVI (16) Original Low Black / Black – Metallic Silver was the second Jordan 16 (XVI) OG Low to release, and featured the same magnetic button to keep the collar low. Retail was $135, which is $25 less than the mids.
Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Retro Black / Varsity Red Countdown Pack
It has only been 7 years since the Air Jordan 16 Black and Red has released, but Jordan Brand knew it was time to bring them back in a Retro. The Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Retro Black / Varsity Red is apart of a Countdown Pack which includes the Jordan 7.
Not only is the Air Jordan 16 (XVI) Black / Varsity Red the first time re-released, but its the first for any Jordan 16 (XVI). Released June 21st 2008 and retailed for $310, but you also got the Jordan 7 Hare Retro.
Wilson Smith III stepped in to be head designer of the Air Jordan 16.  Wilson’s plan with the XVI was to add all of the main elements from the past Air Jordan models into one. Notice the patent leather on the toe box (Air Jordan XI), ribbed leather gaiter (Air Jordan XIV), 3/4 mid cut (Air Jordan III), mesh uppers (Air Jordan V) and clear rubber soles (Air Jordan V, VI, XI).
The return of the patent leather gave the Air Jordan 16 a dress look, which people wore with tuxedos (same on the Air Jordan XI), but of course the Air Jordan XVI was not as popular as the Air Jordan XI.
The Air Jordan XVI is the first model in the line to have a gaiter or shroud. The gaiter is removable, which made them look like a brand new shoe.  A downfall about the gaiter is that when worn during a basketball game, they could fall off. Also the Air Jordan XVI is a tight fit with the gaiter’s on. The Air Jordan 16 is very lightweight, but was stiff. Don’t get me wrong though, the Air Jordan XVI had great quality’s like a blow-molded Air unit in the heel, Zoom Air in the forefoot, thermal properties, breathable ballistic mesh upper and patent leather.
When the Air Jordan 16 first hit shelves in 2001, retail was $160.00, and a total of four color ways were released. Also two low models released at $135.00. A lot of Samples and Player Exclusive were also issued as well.
